Despite his devotion to family life, Richard’s heavily tattooed appearance has not come without obstacles. At times, children at his kids’ school have been intimidated by the way he looks. But his own daughter was quick to defend him, telling her peers: “They say, ‘ah, it’s a bit scary,’ and I say, ‘no, my dad is not scary—he’s just good with tattoos.’”
Even Marita, Richard’s wife, admits she once had doubts about his appearance. “I did judge Richard based on his appearance at first,” she confessed. “But as I got to know him better, I realized he is actually a big-hearted person.”

Despite the criticism and negative comments, Richard refuses to let outside judgment define him as a father. He is deeply involved in his children’s lives—actively participating in the PTA, attending school events, and helping to create a loving and supportive home environment. While online trolls often question his decision to tattoo his face, many others have come to his defense, recognizing that his devotion to family far outweighs his appearance.
Richard himself remains steadfast. He insists that his tattoos neither frighten his children nor make him a bad parent. Instead, he sees them as giving his kids a broader perspective on life and individuality. For him, the cruel remarks say far more about the people making them than about the choices he’s made.
