Their first son, Micheál, was born in 1995, followed by Daniel just 18 months later. The family appeared close-knit and devoted, with their love growing alongside their children.
Tragedy struck in 2009 when Richardson suffered a head injury in a skiing accident. Initially dismissing it as minor, she soon deteriorated. Doctors declared her brain dead, and Neeson made the heartbreaking decision to remove life support, honoring a promise they had once made to each other.
Their eldest son, Micheál, later pursued acting, following in his parents’ footsteps with roles in Anchorman 2, Vox Lux, Big Dogs, and Paradise. In a heartfelt tribute to his mother, he changed his surname to Richardson. “It was mostly a tribute to my mother and a way to carry her with me,” he told The Times. The gesture deeply moved Neeson, as well as Richardson’s mother and sisters.
Since then, Micheál has built his own career, including starring alongside his father in Cold Pursuit and Made in Italy, honoring his mother’s legacy while making his own mark in the entertainment industry.
