A shocking baby-harvesting and trafficking network operating near the U.S.–Mexico border has been taken down, thanks to an intelligence-sharing program originally established under President Donald Trump. The case stands as a stark reminder of the former president’s enduring law enforcement achievements — and a chilling reflection of how his successor, President Joe Biden, has failed to confront the mounting humanitarian crisis at the southern border.
On Thursday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced at the White House that a Trump-era intelligence initiative led to the arrest of a notorious Mexican cartel-affiliated trafficker known as “La Diabla.”
“Her entire money-making operation,” Gabbard explained, “was centered around luring pregnant women, performing illegal C-sections, harvesting organs, and selling newborn babies.”
Before revealing the horrifying details, Gabbard credited Trump’s administration for the groundwork that made the arrest possible. She cited the role of a “newly created national intelligence fusion cell” — an interagency network established under Trump to coordinate U.S. and Mexican law enforcement efforts. That collaboration, she said, directly led to the capture of La Diabla and several other criminal figures operating near the border.
Gabbard’s announcement came during an 80-minute event at the White House, where Trump himself outlined a broader series of recent operations targeting international criminal networks.
“We’re here today to discuss a sweeping, unprecedented, and historically successful operation that my administration has carried out in recent weeks to arrest, prosecute, and permanently remove members of foreign drug cartels from American soil,” Trump declared in his opening remarks.
Seated alongside the former president were several key members of his national security and law enforcement team: Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller, and Director Gabbard herself.
The operation’s success underscores the effectiveness of Trump’s intelligence-driven approach to combating transnational crime — an approach that combined aggressive enforcement with deep coordination between U.S. agencies and foreign partners.
Viewers who wish to see the full White House briefing can find it on YouTube, where Gabbard’s comments begin around the 26:40 mark.
Gabbard has emerged as one of the most prominent figures in the Trump administration. This summer, her work exposing the role of former President Barack Obama and his national security team in allegedly fabricating intelligence to support the so-called Russia collusion narrative could pave the way for multiple prosecutions and significant prison sentences.
Yet the focus of this story lies elsewhere — on the ongoing crisis at the southern border and what critics describe as Democratic complicity in it. In August 2024, the Office of Inspector General at President Biden’s Department of Homeland Security revealed that the administration could not account for 323,000 unaccompanied migrant children.
Tom Homan, Trump’s former border czar, has vowed to locate these missing children. Equally troubling, many Democrats have been accused of showing a shocking indifference to the families of young Americans killed by illegal immigrants.
For critics, this indifference is consistent with a party that supports abortion, making it, in their view, part of a broader pattern of devaluing children. In this context, the circumstances that allowed figures like “La Diabla” to operate gain added significance.
In short, the episode underscores, according to Trump allies, that the former president and his team are engaged in a battle against entrenched criminality and moral corruption.
