We Announce the Passing of Deborah
“I brought my daughter into the world, and I took her out of it.” Those words capture the heartbreaking truth of a mother’s love and loss. As I held Deborah’s hand during her final moments, a wave of sorrow and relief washed over me—sorrow for losing my vibrant, extraordinary daughter, and relief that her long, painful battle with bowel cancer had finally come to an end.
Deborah passed away at the age of 40, after a courageous five-and-a-half-year fight against stage 4 bowel cancer—a diagnosis she received at just 35. A devoted mother to her children, Hugo, 16, and Eloise, 14, Deborah’s absence has left an unfillable void in our lives.
Yet even in her darkest moments, Deborah remained a beacon of strength and hope. Through her Bowelbabe blog and tireless advocacy, she brought global attention to bowel cancer awareness, inspiring countless others with her honesty, humor, and determination to live fully despite the odds.
Her legacy endures in the lives she touched, the awareness she raised, and the love she shared so freely. As we honor her memory and navigate the depths of our grief, we find comfort in her enduring message—to cherish every precious moment, just as she did.
